Let's tame color!
2nd part
Vincent van Gogh, who always felt left out by his father, had
found a friend, a confidant and a support in his brother Théo.
In his letter n°604, he writes to Theo, from Arles, where he
moved in 1888, that « the painter of the future is a colorist
as there has never yet been »... He was that colorist, in the
times to come, leading the way for the next generation of
painters, in the last quarter of a century which was shaking
up the thousands of years of basics of painting. His own
painting relies on the use of yellow standing out against soft
blues... Chromium yellow, which alas, does not age well, and
orangey-yellow. Throughout his life, he was looking for the
color, to get close to light ...and he managed to find it.
