Centa has developed a wellproven, patented method to
connect the CFRP shafts to
metal hubs securely. Its wide
portfolio of power transmission elements consists of a
series of torsionally flexible
or torsionally stiff couplings
to provide reliable, optimum
solutions for any combination.
Only practical limits
In theory, there are no limits
for CFRP shaft dimensions and torques, although
practical limits do exist. Any
length is technically possible using several sections,
but exceeding 12 metres per
section tends to be impractical. And although designs
and quotes for as much as
2200 kNm of torque exist,
no delivery to date has
exceeded 1000 kNm. Speed
depends on length, diameter
and wrapping angle, with a
maximum of 3000 rpm so
far. In terms of power, there
have been deliveries of up to
23,000 kW (gas turbine) per
shaft, and quotes for projects
for 50,000 kW per shaft.

One part epoxy offers
exceptionally high tensile
strength
Master Bond EP15 is a one
component, heat curing epoxy
that is specifically designed for
testing the adhesion or cohesive
strength of flame sprayed coatings as per the ASTM
C633 specification. However, it can also be used in
any bonding application where high tensile strength is
a prerequisite. Featuring a tensile strength exceeding
12,000 psi at room temperature, it forms rigid, dimensionally stable bonds to similar and dissimilar substrates, particularly to metals and ceramics. As a one
part system, EP15 features an unlimited working life
and does not require any mixing prior to use. It cures
quickly in 60-90 minutes at 300-350°F. Serviceable
from -60°F to 250°F, EP15 has superior chemical resistance properties and withstands
thermal cycling. n
