made from renewable materials. It will
be located in the new zoo to be built in
the city of Emmen in the Netherlands
(Dierenpark Emmen) and is scheduled
for installation onsite in the second half
of 2014. The bridge should be capable of
dealing with groups of pedestrians and
service vehicles that operate in the zoo
and an incidental ambulance. The design
will be full composite. The work will be
executed in cooperation with Machinefabriek Emmen (movable parts, control
system, fences) and Volker Wessels (civil
works, main contractor for the new zoo).
The deck will have a length of 5 m and a
width of 4 m.

Pigment paste product lines
for composite applications
Chromaflo Technologies, the largest
independent global supplier of advanced
colorants and chemical dispersions for the
paints, coatings and thermoset plastics
industry, will present a number of pigment paste lines and a chemical thickener
line during JEC Europe in Paris.

The product lines marketed in Europe
include specialized pigment pastes for
unsaturated polyester (CF line), polyurethane pultrusion (UPL line), other
polyurethane processes (DL line), epoxy
(EDC-ND line) and plasticizer applications (DH line). Along with these
standard product lines, Chromaflo Technologies also provides custom-formulated
dispersions, colour matching and toll
processing.
The AM line offers a number of chemical
thickener dispersions for SMC and BMC
applications. AM products are among the
most consistently reactive magnesium
oxide dispersions available and have been
designed to deliver a specific, controlled
thickening response.
All products are solvent free and based on
REACH compliant raw materials.

New facility for marine
composite solutions
Composite manufacturer Rhebergen
Composites from Amsterdam, the
Netherlands, has signed an agreement for
a new facility in Wormerveer as of January
2014. The new facility will contribute
to the progress of the company and the
industry it supplies.
At a distance of about 20 kilometres
from its current location, Rhebergen
Composites opted for a location with
more options. The new facility is a large,
modern, free-standing production hall,
including an office, built out of high-qua-

lity materials. The hall provides enough
space for all the necessary production
procedures and it has two overhead cranes
and a separate grinding bay that can also
be used for painting.
The facility features large overhead doors
making it possible to move projects easily
and is connected to the waterway system
located at a distance of 500 metres. "These
aspects have been important to us in
choosing this building since components
for the superyacht industry are usually
of a greater size and preferably transported over water," explains Operational &
Finance Director Ad Broos.
Rhebergen Composites is a specialist
in custom-made solutions using marine
composites, especially in the superyacht
industry. The new facility offers the right
kind of high-level options to match the
needs of this industry and the company's
focus: turnkey delivery from development, design and engineering to construction, painting, transport and mounting.
The official opening of Rhebergen
Composites in Wormerveer will follow in
March.

New developments in
high-pressure fibre
impregnation techniques
The Dutch company FRT Tapes has developed a unique high-pressure impregnation system that allows for an extremely
high fibre volume content in sheets and
tapes. At present, FRT Tapes is capable
of producing tapes from glass and carbon
fibre with a ratio of 45% to a volume of
70%, but they are confident of being able
to develop this further to even higher
standards.
The company's success is based on a direct melt impregnation technology which
forms a high fibre volume thermoplastic
prepreg or tape with constant quality in
combination with a uniquely balanced
system for fibre spreading and straightening. FRT has its own slitting department
and can deliver a thickness from 0.25 mm
and a width of 5 mm to 600 mm. The
