I
hope you are all well and
keeping safe.
As many of you will
remember, in February 2020,
ISTAT hosted the ISTAT Americas
conference in Austin, Texas.
Over 2,000 individuals attended
the event, which made it one of the
largest and most successful ISTAT
events in our 38-year history. Then, of
course, the COVID-19 pandemic hit,
which immediately ceased our in-person
gatherings. Because of the progress
being made against the pandemic
earlier this year, ISTAT was able to
successfully host the Miami Conclave
in April. The event was attended by
348 delegates and highlighted the
desire of our members to get back to
in-person networking. In addition, at
the end of August, we hosted more
than 150 industry professionals at the
ISTAT Latin America Forum in Mexico
City. The forum, with nearly 20% airline
attendance, was another successful
event that showcased the demand for
face-to-face networking.
The success of the ISTAT Miami Conclave
in April highlighted the desire of our members to get
back to in-person networking.
ISTAT has certainly done its
part to help in the fight against the
pandemic. Last year, ISTAT made a
special US$500,000 COVID-19 relief
grant to the ISTAT Foundation that was
allocated among 12 different aviationrelated
organizations, including Air Serv
International, Aviation Without Borders,
Angel Flight, Royal Flying Doctor

Service, Amref Health Africa and Orbis
International. This global support was
in additional to the ISTAT Foundation's
2020 planned giving.
This year, ISTAT again stepped up
to support the Foundation's efforts
by making an additional US$100,000
grant toward COVID-19 relief efforts
specifically aimed at India. We are
pleased that this effort, which was
matched by an additional US$100,000
donation from Air Lease Corporation and
a further US$30,000 provided by the
Foundation and other ISTAT members,
allowed a total of US$230,000 to be
dedicated to the region through Airlink's
Operation Airlift India, which provided
a critical pipeline of supply shipments
for 11 nongovernmental organizations.
Due to distances between destinations
within India and state restrictions for
transportation of humanitarian goods
within the country, both direct airlift and
last-mile considerations are critical to
ensuring supplies reach their intended
recipients in the fastest time, and our
collective support through Airlink greatly
assisted in supporting these initiatives.
Special thanks to Peter Huijbers as well
as the rest of the Foundation Board,
Air Lease Corporation and Airlink for
making this happen.
ISTAT's online presence continues
to be robust. Over the past few months,
ISTAT has produced presentations
on energy transition in aviation, the
status of the airfreight market and
sustainable air travel, as well as
several OEM perspectives on the path
to recovery. These offerings provide a
unique opportunity to delve deeply into
a variety of educational and other topics
within the commercial aviation industry
and are open to all.
After a year's delay, ISTAT was also
able to commence the Professional
ISTAT Jetrader - Autumn 2021
