Can you tell me a little about
your background?
Shuhua Fang: I grew up in a small
beautiful village in Eastern China and
moved to Wuhan with my parents when
I was in junior high school. Aiming to
work in science and technology, I went
to university and majored in marine
engineering after I graduated from high
school. After that, I received a postgraduate
degree in logistics.
Jun Li: It has been nearly 22 years
since I started to work in this industry.
I am currently the deputy general
manager of AVIC Leasing, and I am also
the general manager of AVIC Leasing's
Aviation Leasing Division.

Where did you begin your career,
and how did you get started at your
current company?
Shuhua Fang: I started my career as a
university teacher. Three years later, I
joined the China Classification Society
(CCS), which is one of the earliest
technology management organizations
that sets its standards in line with
international rules and standards. Thus,
I had the opportunity to learn about
the latest industrial developments and
management methodologies throughout
the world. In 2009, I pivoted my career
path to China Exim Bank, where I was
responsible for shipping financing. In
2015, I joined CMB Financial Leasing
Co. LTD (CMBFL) and became the head
of the aviation division in 2018. CMBFL
is an exceptional leasing company
focused on multiple sectors with total
leasing assets of over US$35 billion.
The aviation sector is a strategic pillar
in CMBFL's business, accounting for
about 20% of its assets by value at
roughly $US6.5 billion, with a fleet of
150 aircraft.
Jun Li: I started my career at an airline,
then joined AVIC Leasing in 2007.
What are your hopes for China in
2022, the Year of the Tiger?
Shuhua Fang: I sincerely hope that the
aviation transportation sector comes
back to normal. The Chinese saying
