course was held at the Colombian Civil
Aeronautical Authority facilities where
students learned the basic principles
of the operation of airplanes, how
control towers work, and the role of
air traffic controllers, among other
topics. The students also built aircraft
models. It was a resounding success
with 89% of students stating that they
want to pursue a career aviation and/or
aerospace. Of particular note, 63% of
the students were women.
Can you elaborate on the
sustainable development values that
are at the center of Cipsela and how
they shape your various programs?
Sustainable development is
fundamental to Cipsela's mission and
vision. We are interested in developing
a new generation of professionals
who, in addition to considering
careers in aviation, consider global
climate change as a problem that
all of humanity must face - people
who believe inclusion and education
are powerful tools for a better future
society in more equitable communities
where hunger and poverty can be
reduced. As professionals in the
aviation and aerospace sectors,
they will be able to contribute in an
essential way to these objectives by
thinking about increasingly sustainable
aviation and as citizens contributing to
a better world.
How can we attract more diverse
talent to join the aviation industry?
Inclusion is critical in any country or
economic sector seriously considering
being a big player in the decades to
come. Aviation and the aerospace
world have some fascinating
challenges ahead; it will have to include
sustainable propulsion technologies,
new manufacturing methods that will
lead to more efficient and spectacular
aircraft, and data technologies that
will change the way MRO is done,
among other things. To think that all
this can be achieved without the active
participation of more women and

global and faces challenges that must
be addressed globally. At Cipsela, we

focused on helping them make their
dreams come true.
