ISTAT Jetrader - Spring 2023 - 3

ISTAT will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and there will be
much to commemorate this achievement at our upcoming conferences. ISTAT's
success is driven principally by the commitment and enthusiasm of our members
who long ago recognized the need for an organization of its type, dedicated to
commercial aviation and all that revolves around it. The beginning of ISTAT focused
mainly around the Appraisers Program, and its first event was held in 1983 at
the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. The size and scope of the organization has
grown exponentially since then, with ISTAT becoming the preeminent networking
and educational organization in the aviation industry. It is a great testament
to our past and present boards, whose vision and determination helped fuel
ISTAT's success.
I treasure my ISTAT experience and have made lifelong friends along the way
due to my involvement. For that, I am truly grateful. I am also proud and pleased to
have been one small part of the growth and success of this amazing organization.
Looking forward, my successor will be
Mary Prettyman, who is currently head
of marketing at Pratt & Whitney. I have
worked with Mary on the board for
many years. She is a terrific leader and
great friend, and I hope and expect that
ISTAT will achieve new heights under
her leadership.
