are only two, so we have to have a
good working relationship. I do think
the OEMs see lessors as different to
airlines - because we are. In some
parts of the OEMs and some situations,
they see us more as a competitor than
a partner. You need to understand what
we're investing in aircraft for. We're
aligned to our airline customers, but
we're ultimately a financial investor."
On diversity, Kelly said: "Studies
have shown that diversity is good for
an organization in very real terms. It
is proven to have a positive impact
on profitability. Diverse organizations
tend to have wider perspectives,
leading to better decisions. As leaders
of organizations, we should do the
best we can for our shareholders, and
so if diversity enhances profitability,

it's important to consider it. Diversity
is not just about gender; it includes
many aspects, such as ethnicity,
age, politics, sexual orientation, etc.
Goshawk has good diversity; our team
consists of many different nationalities,
a wide spread of age and good gender
diversity, including at senior levels.
We didn't achieve our diversity with
quotas. We genuinely aim to employ
people or allocate roles internally based
on capability, and if you do that, you
naturally get a diverse mix."

Networking Events
There were many opportunities to
discover Berlin and meet with other
ISTAT EMEA participants at this year's
event. On Monday, some enjoyed a
visit to Potsdam and an Explore Berlin

Tour. There was also an ISTAT NewGen
Event with the evening culminating in
a wonderful Welcome Reception at the
InterContinental Berlin.
During the conference itself,
there were gathering spaces at The
Hub, the ISTAT Bistro, Jet Fuel Café,
Deal Zones and throughout the hotel.
If you were able to get in, there
was also a Freighters Conversion
Roundtable Lunch.
At the end of the day, there was the
ISTAT Women's Networking Reception
in conjunction with IAWA and an
evening networking reception at the
very cool venue Wasserwerk Berlin.
Wednesday's events capped
off with a networking dinner at the
breathtaking German Historical
Museum and an after party at the
hotel's Marlene Bar.
Overall, this year's ISTAT EMEA
was a hit. You can view the entire
