the evolving demands of passengers
and society for cleaner and more
sustainable aviation.

the industry to net zero. " Buying new
aircraft brings huge fuel efficiency, "
she said. " It gives you 25% fuel burn
savings, lower emissions, lower noise.
We all have a responsibility to work on
this together and make it happen. "
For his part, Newitt said that
McCarthy said there will be a " challenging number
of years ahead, offset by rising demands for air travel.
The winners will be the best managed airlines. "

decades to come, because that's how
long it will take. "
The most important thing he
believes the industry can do today is
help customers fly more fuel-efficient
aircraft. " Sixty-four percent of our fleet
is new technology, and we hope to
get it to over 80% by 2025, " he said.
The company also invested in carbon
credits, which Barrett said will be an
important bridge to help customers
transition to a more sustainable future
over the next decade. SAF, he said,
is the most viable decarbonization
solution at the moment, but it will
take time to produce SAF at the scale
needed. Thus, high quality carbon
credits will have a role to play while
that's happening.
Barrett also spoke about bridging
the gap between the dream and reality
of reaching ESG targets. " I consider
myself a realist, but we have to start
this journey, " he said. " We'll have
to kiss a lot of frogs to find the right
answer here. We're all going to have to
invest. We need to encourage creativity.
It's better to have a mountain to
climb than just say 'let's worry about
it tomorrow.' "

Aircraft Panel
The Crossover and Regional Aircraft
Panel was moderated by Ron Baur,
president of Azorra, and featured Angus
Clarke, chief commercial officer at Air
France / KLM; Sinead Cormican, head
commitments to net zero are great but
that they aren't enough. " The pressure
will continue to mount, " he said. " Now
is the time to get going. There's a lot
of good momentum building. We're
starting with our 30-seater, but we
have aspiration to go beyond 30 seats.
We want to make sure we're at the
table. Be relevant. Be proactive. Be
invited back here in 10 years' time. "
ISTAT Foundation
Update
Sigthor Einarsson, ISTAT Foundation
chair and chair and senior partner
at ICELEASE, provided an update on
the ISTAT Foundation, sharing that it
has provided US$12 million through
scholarships, grants and educational
opportunities over nearly 30 years.
He acknowledged the EMEA-based
scholarship students in the audience
and spoke briefly about the Aviation
Capital Group D&I Fund, which aims
to break down the barriers that
eager students may face in certain
parts of the world to help create and
develop a path for success in this
fascinating industry.
Einarsson then introduced
