2012 Year in Review: Exceeding Expectations

O
ver the past year, NAMSS has
worked hard in pursuit of our
mission: driving the professional
development and industry-wide recognition
of MSPs . We’re excited to report that 2012
has been a great year for the organization,
with significant growth in a number of
areas . Read on for a summary of what
we’ve been working on, where we stand
now, and where NAMSS is going in 2013 .
This year, we continued our trend of
membership growth . We’ve gained several
hundred new members in 2012, and are
poised to reach 5,000 members early
in 2013 . We attribute this continuing
growth to our constant efforts to evaluate
and improve the products and services
that NAMSS has to offer—from the
introduction of eSYNERGY to access
magazine content online, to the creation
of NAMSS PASS™, which will help all
medical services professionals efficiently
and accurately credential and privilege
practitioners in their healthcare facility .
We know that this is a time of great
change in the healthcare field, and we
appreciate that our members entrust
us with the responsibility of helping to
keep them informed and to expand their
influence in the industry .
As membership has grown, so too
has attendance at the NAMSS Annual
Conference . The NAMSS 36th Educational
Conference & Exhibition in San Francisco
was the best-attended event in NAMSS
history, attracting 1,757 total attendees . In
addition, attendee survey results indicated
that this year’s event received the highest
overall conference rating on record . We
are so pleased that the event continues to
provide MSPs with a valuable learning and
networking experience tailored to their
specific space in the healthcare industry .
The program committee is now hard at
work on the 37th Educational Conference
& Exhibition—more details about exciting
changes will be available in 2013 .
The number of NAMSS certificants is also
on the rise . As of winter 2012, more than
5,000 certifications are in good standing—
an increase of 10 percent since 2009 .
In addition to greater numbers of initial
certifications, fewer people are allowing
their certifications to expire each year,
