continue and to expand moving into 2015,
as we have found exceptional value in
working with our industry partners to bring
the most up-to-date news and information
to our members.
Certification numbers continued to rise
in 2014, with more individuals becoming
certified in both the CPMSM and CPCS than
in 2013. This continual growth of certified
professionals is a true insight into the
overall growth of the medical staff services
profession. As more and more facilities look
for the best and brightest of the profession,
you all continue to rise to the challenge
of certification and dedicate yourselves to
perpetual education. As we move into 2015,
we will continue to evaluate the needs of
this growing profession to ensure that the
certification exams remain current.
NAMSS strives to offer the most relevant
educational information to its members.
While you may notice a decline in the
overall net assets of the Education program
we have found that our live certification
preparation classes continue to do well.
Certification has been the cornerstone
of many of the large-grossing education
products, and as much more of our
membership becomes certified, we realize
that the products need to grow with the
membership's advanced roles in their
facilities. Earlier this year we conducted
a competency assessment across the
profession and have spent the year
interpreting the feedback. We are now
conducting focus groups to begin to build
the next wave of NAMSS Education in order
to help all MSPs continue to advance in this
ever-changing healthcare world.
NAMSS continues to have strong reserves,
which is another indication of the strength of
the organization and fiduciary responsibility
that the NAMSS Board of Directors takes
very seriously. NAMSS continues to invest
in ways that will benefit our members most,
with plans to utilize reserves to fund projects
like leadership training, NAMSS PASS,
scholarships and a Job Task Analysis in the
coming year.
We should all be delighted with the past
year that has seen tremendous success and
growth for NAMSS. With high attendance
and record breaking numbers, it is very
apparent the need for professional best

practices and collaborations that NAMSS
strives to provide. In light of the changing
role of MSPs and overall changing
healthcare landscape, NAMSS will continue
to be your resource and advocate in 2015
and beyond. ■
