The past 60 years of OppenheimerFunds' history is, in a word, remarkable.
As we celebrate this milestone, I am extremely proud and grateful for the
employees, clients, partners, and shareholders who have enabled us
along the way. Whether you have been with OppenheimerFunds for six
months, six years, or like me, have spent the majority of your career here,
I want to thank you for your dedication to our firm. I consider myself lucky to
have had the opportunity to work with and learn from each one of you.
The OppenheimerFunds philosophy can be captured in five short words:
The Right Way to Invest. The tagline speaks to the trust our clients have
in us, and the quality of our people. For clients, OppenheimerFunds
represents the highest standard of investment intelligence, expertise,
and integrity. We have seen bull markets and bear markets, and through
it all, we have stayed true to who we are and how we invest. For employees
and alumni, OppenheimerFunds is a special place where leaders serve
as mentors; the culture is grounded in teamwork and community;
and professional excellence, individuality, and diversity of opinion are
cultivated.
Over the past six decades, with these ideals to guide us, we have grown
OppenheimerFunds into a firm with nearly $250 billion in AUM. In fact,
I can proudly say that 2018 was the second strongest year in our history.
As we look ahead, 2019 marks an inflection point for our firm. Following
the close of the transaction with Invesco, OppenheimerFunds will become
part of the sixth largest U.S. asset management firm, with more than
$1 trillion under management. Although the OppenheimerFunds brand
will be retired, the expertise, intellect, and spirit of our people will continue
to benefit clients as an integral part of a leading global investment
management platform.
This book is one small way to honor the story of our firm. While there is
no way to capture all of the important milestones we have achieved, I hope
it reminds you of your time at OppenheimerFunds with fondness and pride.
Thank you for your invaluable contributions to our firm and for being a part
of our remarkable 60-year history.
