upfront upfront Graph Expo 14 Blows into the Windy City Graph Expo 14, branded as a one-stop shop for all things print, is set to take place September 28-October 1 at Chicago's McCormick Place. The event will showcase more than 500 exhibitors, 14 pavilions and specialty show floor sections, 70-plus education sessions, 50-plus colocated industry events, four show floor theaters, three "Ask the Expert" stations, and more. "This year's 'Integrate' theme represents the innovative cross-media, multi-channel direction of Graph Expo 14, which today spans the realms of print, online, and mobile," says Debbie Vieder, director of communications, Graphics Art Show Company (GASC). "Focused on presenting the very latest print-driven, profit-making applications, attendees will experience live demonstrations featuring the newest and most unique applications for wide format, package printing, cross-media, photo imaging, and direct mail to inspire and educate them about key strategies, and also the 'how-to' tactics for entering, or expanding, into new profit pathways." There will be lots to see and do at this year's show, with exhibits covering digital, inkjet, offset, flexo, and hybrid technologies, and prepress, package printing, converting, binding, and finishing industries, says Vieder. "For instance, in the wide-format inkjet space, beyond sign and display, there will be a huge array of new applications including trending soft signage and green diverse cardboard applications that can offer, with minimal investment, an entree into a wide gamut of new markets and a broad range of new profit opportunities." And don't forget about the Wide Format Application Zone, consisting of Big - The Wide Format Pavilion and ISA Wide Format Innovation Theater (both sponsored by the International Sign Association), and the Inkjet Candy Store featuring new wide-format inkjet technologies. Graph Expo 14 will also unveil the world debut of its newest show floor attraction, the Plastic Print Pavilion, sponsored by The Society for the Plastics Industry 8 THE BIG PICTURE August 2014 (SPI). The pavilion is where package printing, commercial printing, and industrial manufacturing will come together, says Vieder. "Here attendees will learn about exciting new profit opportunities through live demonstrations of 3D printing options and the profit-building applications they create to sell now." Show floor hours and dates for Graph Expo 14 are: Sunday, September 28: 12 - 5 p.m. Monday, September 29: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 30: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 1: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Exhibits-only registration costs $45 ($30 if before August 29).
