To bring attention to domestic violence
during the weekend surrounding
International Women's Day, ad agency
WCRS, non-profit Women's Aid, and
media company Ocean Outdoor
created a billboard campaign for three
London locales.
The digital billboards featured a
battered woman whose bruised face
healed as people stopped to look. Views
from passersby were measured with
Lookout, a facial recognition technology.
"The system recognized all faces
that appeared in the camera view and
published a constant stream of data that
detailed the time the face had been
recognized, the coordinates of the face,
and how long it had actually looked
directly at the screen," says Dino
Burbidge, director of technology and
innovation, WCRS.
