GLOBAL IMAGING Women in Print Award Winners Honored at SGIA Expo TO DISTRIBUTE FOR DURST Durst and Global Imaging have signed a distribution deal. Global Imaging will offer Durst's Rho 312R, Rho 512R, Rho P10 250, Rho P10 250HS, Rhotex 322, and Rhotex 500 inkjet printers. NEW PRESIDENT FOR ROLAND DGA SGIA welcomed roughly 200 press, attendees, and vendors to Las Vegas with its annual Chairman's Reception, held this year at the Surrender Nightclub at the Encore hotel. Newly appointed editor-in-chief of Big Picture, Adrienne Palmer, took to the podium to honor the first-ever Women in Print Award winners. Lynn Krinsky, Nicole Piach, Elaine Scrima, and a spokesperson for Catherine Monson graced the stage and were warmly recognized by the crowd; winners Katherine Becher and Diana Herrera were unable to attend but were honored in spirit. BSGA: BUILDING WRAPS COULD VOID INSURANCE BIG PICTURE October 2016 The British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) has raised a new issue that could affect providers of building and scaffolding wraps: After installing a standard PVC banner wrap on a building, a BSGA member company was informed that the building's insurers would no longer insure the structure, citing that the material used did not have the proper LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board) certificate. "Neither the sign company, the material supplier, the BSGA, nor the client were aware of this insurance condition," says BSGA Director David Catanach on the association's website, "but from my initial investigations, I found that this is not surprising, as there is a lot of ignorance of these standards outside the insurance industry." 12 EFI PLANS MOVE FOR INKJET HEADQUARTERS EFI has announced plans for a 250,000-square-foot facility in Londonderry, New Hampshire, to house its US inkjet business. The building is scheduled to be completed in early 2018. EFI cites consolidation, proximity to the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and improved demo offerings as reasons for the relocation from its current spot in Meredith, New Hampshire. The facility will house the company's research and development, manufacturing, warehousing, training and service, sales and marketing management, and customer briefing and demos for EFI's inkjet production printers and workflow products. Roland DGA has announced that Andrew Oransky has been promoted to president of the company. Oransky has previously served as director of marketing and product management and VP of sales and marketing. SWISSQPRINT OPENS CHICAGO BRANCH The US subsidiary of Swiss printer manufacturer swissQprint has established a home base in Chicago. The subsidiary was established in October 2015, but the team of six had not previously worked from a single location. The group will offer machine demonstrations, printing tests, technical advice and maintenance, consumables, and spare parts for the company's Nyala 2 and Impala 2 UV inkjet printers. MIMAKI AND N. GLANTZ & SON DISTRIBUTION DEAL Mimaki has announced a new distribution partnership with N. Glantz & Son, a 110-year-old sign and graphics distributor with presence across the continental US. N. Glantz will market the following products and corresponding ink and consumables: * CG-FXII and CG SRIII Series cutting plotters; * CJV150 and CJV300 Series print-and-cut devices; * JV150 and JV300 Series eco-solvent/dyesublimation printers; * JFX200 and JFX500 UV flatbed printers; * And UJV Series UV roll-based printers.
