THE JOB
Healthy bites on the go can be hard to come by. From rest stop
vending machines to convenience store shelves bursting with
sugary or salty snacks, it's not always easy to find a nutritious
treat when traveling. The Bi-State Development Research
Institute has a mission to improve quality of life in North St. Louis
County. The institute, in partnership with the Missouri Foundation for Health, developed a simple idea to expand the millions
of annual St. Louis MetroLink commuters' snack options: Link
Market kiosks offering fresh fruits, vegetables, and other
healthy food staples at two MetroLink subway stations.
PRODUCTION
St. Louis-based PSP Swift Print Communications (swiftprint.
com) partnered with local graphic design agency Werremeyer
Creative to produce eye-catching, wide-format graphics with
dimension and color pop for two outdoor kiosks - in just 10
days. Swift Print imaged Mactac Rebel H media with the
shop's Canon Océ Arizona 550 XT, finishing with Mactac SAG
Anti-Graffiti Window Protection Film. After printing and
laminating, Swift Print cut the graphics into various sizes for
installation, which was completed in less than 24 hours.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in the fall of 2018 to
celebrate the new kiosks. "Link Market is more than a grocery
store - our food has a mission," says Jeremy Goss, Link
Market operator, in a release. "Unfortunately, too many
neighborhoods and too many families don't have access to
healthy, affordable food. The Link Market will change that,
and we can't wait to get started."
