color-logic and matchmycolor Partner
Color-Logic and matchmycolor LLC have partnered to ensure brand managers that use the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color System can provide consistent color and special effects regardless of when printing is done. Discussing the partnership, Color-Logic director of sales and marketing Mark Geeves says, “matchmycolor Gateway ColorControl—a cloud-based quality-control system that tracks the color consistency of production printers worldwide—provides brand managers with a digital dashboard indicating the quality of production at package-production plants worldwide. Because the Color-Logic license requires printers to control quality and produce consistent color from their presses, the matchmycolor system is a natural companion product.” matchmycolor LLC was founded in 2009, following a management buyout of the Colibri business from Ciba Specialty Chemicals, now part of BASF. Color-Logic develops color-communication systems and software tool sets for a variety of special effect printing applications.

3M completes Missouri Plant expansion
Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue: Printed and Thin Film Transistors and Memory 2012-2022. Printed and thin-film-transistor circuits will become a $3.5 billion market in ten years, from just $2 million in 2012, the report says. Printed and thin-film-transistor circuits will drive lighting, displays, signage, electronic products, medical disposables, smart packaging, smart labels, and much more besides. The chemical, plastics, printing, electronics, and other industries are cooperating to make it happen. More than 500 organizations are already developing printed transistors and memory, with the first products being sold commercially in 2009. The growth over the longer timescale, from 2012-2032, will be very similar to the early growth of the silicon-chip market in the same interval. In other words, 1978 to 1998 saw a similar starting and finishing value of sales of silicon chips. History is repeating itself with the printed equivalent over the next 20 years, though not by taking much market share from silicon chips in the first 15 years.
reportlinker.com Predicts growth in Printed/tFt circuits and Memory
3M recently announced the on-time completion of its manufacturing expansion for its 3M Ultra Barrier Solar Film in Columbia, MO. The expansion will support the growing demand for flexible photovoltaic (PV) modules. “This manufacturing expansion helps us support our customers’ manufacturing scale-up plans by providing ample capacity to this growing market,” says Derek DeScioli, global business-development manager for the 3M Renewable Energy Division. “With our new production equipment and continued product innovation, 3M is well positioned to not only increase the performance of our Ultra Barrier Solar Film, but also significantly drive down the costs, further enabling our customers to provide competitive photovoltaic solutions to the commercial rooftop market.”
