PPG Direct-to-Metal Coating

PPG (Pittsburgh) has introduced
SPECTRACRON® SPM Series
DTM (direct-to-metal) monocoat, a
one-component coating that helps
prevent corrosion to metal surfaces. Spectracron SPM is engineered
for direct application to pretreated
metal substrates while providing
corrosion resistance that, the company reports, is comparable to traditional two-component primer-topcoat systems. The proprietary
high-solids, high-gloss formulation also enables Spectracron SPM
coating to be applied over pretreatment chemistries such as ironphosphate, zinc-phosphate and zirconium at supplier-recommended weights. Flash times and cure temperatures for the coating are
similar to those of current urethane topcoats, eliminating concerns
about fast wet-on-wet application times and enabling the coating
to work without constraints on existing paint lines.

Ronan Paints (Bronx, NY) Industrial Speednamel is a high-gloss, heavyduty, synthetic enamel designed for use on neon sign cabinets and frames,
backgrounds, trucks, steel structures and other surfaces where a quick
drying enamel is required. The tough, flexible, brilliant finish resists oils,
grease, moisture, cold, heat, aliphatic solvents and the like. The enamel
dries to touch in 30 minutes to 2 hours; to handle, 2-4 hours; and to
recoat, 6-8 hours. Full cure takes 7 days. Industrial Speednamel can be
applied using a brush, roller or sprayer.

ITI High-Speed Textile Printer

Inkjet Technology Ink (ITI; Ft. Worth, TX) is introducing its dual-production, 3.2-meter TX3200 textile printer for imaging directly on textile
fabrics and dye-sub transfer paper applications. The printer is configured
with Kyocera KJ4B high-speed production printheads and is available in
a two- or four-printhead configuration for speeds up to 2,195 sq. ft./hr.
It also incorporates an advanced media handling system that will accommodate both transfer paper and direct-to-fabric media imaging. Other
features include an internal vacuum system and an ink-collection gutter
assembly for direct printing of polyester or mesh-type textiles. An optional
infrared heat-transfer unit allows users to directly sublimate textile
media as it exits the printer, which eliminates the need for a separate
calendar press unit in direct textile printing applications.
