Jennifer Acevedo, Editor-in-Chief Don Heyl, Art Director Jen is a 24-year-veteran print journalist who has researched, spoken and written extensively on the strategy, design and marketing of retail and consumer brands. A native of New York City, she is currently based in Chicago. Her passion for art and design is in her DNA: Her mother is a retired ASID interior designer, and her sister is a fine artist and photographer. Jen joined the VMSD team in December 2015, coming from Retail Leader, a business publication written for the c-suite at retail, where she served as editor-in-chief. Don is a graphic designer, illustrator and art director with nearly 20 years of magazine design experience, including his work with VMSD magazine. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP), Don is also a past adjunct assistant professor of graphic design at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College. His favorite artists include Robert Crumb, Al Hirschfeld, Roy Lichtenstein and Edward Hopper. A native of Cincinnati, Don is an avid fan of the Reds, the Bengals and the UC Bearcats. Carly Hagedon, Managing Editor Eric Feigenbaum, Editorial Advisor/New York Editor An Ohio native, Carly lives in Cincinnati and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism - magazine writing and minored in American history. Prior to her foray into the retail industry, she freelanced for local-area publications and interned at Cincinnati Magazine. She currently serves as a board member for the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). Passionate about lighting for retail, she has reported on that industry sector for several years. A recognized leader in the visual merchandising and retail industries, Eric worked for Stern's Department Store (from 1986 until 1995); was the director of visual merchandising for WalkerGroup/CNI (New York); was an adjunct professor of store design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT); and served as the chair of the Visual Merchandising Department at LIM College from 2000 until 2015. He currently serves as the president and director of creative services of his own retail design company, Embrace Design. Kaileigh Peyton, Associate Editor Born and raised in Cincinnati, Kaileigh is in her second year on the VMSD staff. With a steadfast curiosity about the world, she pursued a career in writing and reporting at the University of Cincinnati where, in addition to a minor in psychology, she earned her bachelor's degree in journalism. With an ever-growing interest in technology, she covers the in-store tech sector for VMSD and will be reporting on Retail's Digital Summit (presented by NRF) this fall. John Ryan, European Editor John is a journalist covering the retail sector, a role he has fulfilled for more than a decade. As well as being the European Editor of VMSD, he writes for a broad range of publications in the U.K., the U.S. and Germany, with a focus on in-store marketing, display and layout, as well as the business of store architecture and design.
