Jovian Majesty u LAYERS OF CLOUDS This image of Jupiter's North North North Temperate Belt was acquired on perijove pass 13. The enhanced color reveals the three-dimensional nature of Jupiter's cloud decks, with thin, almost-transparent hazes partially masking the storms below. p THE NORTH POLE Juno's polar perspective is new - no other spacecraft has passed over Jupiter's poles. At the poles only one half of the planet is in daylight; the other half is in nighttime darkness. We discovered circumpolar cyclones in JunoCam's first images of Jupiter's poles, such as this one, but it required several passes to realize that the storms are grouped in polygons around a central cyclone located close to the pole. p NORTH POLE MONTAGE This image combines views from Juno's first five perijove passes to show the eight circumpolar storms surrounding a central cyclone near Jupiter's north pole. This central area is in winter darkness, so the depiction of the central cyclone comes from the near-infrared instrument, JIRAM, on Juno. 16 M AY 2 0 1 9 * S K Y & T E L E S C O P E
