Curtis Clark, the newest active member of
the ASC, is truly an international artist. Al¬

though he was born in Oak Ridge, Tennes¬
see, Curtis graduated from the London Film
School in 1969 and worked for the next ten

free lance cameraman in En¬
gland. During that time he worked on a wide
variety of television documentaries and
short fiction subjects.
"I became actively involved with
the emergence of Super 16 in Britain in the
early 1980s," Clark recalls, "and was in¬
strumental in helping Kay Laboratories (now
Metrocolor London) set up the first British
full service, Super 16 negative developing
and printing process through to 35mm blow
up and release printing. Then I photo¬
graphed the first feature film to benefit from
the new British Super 16 facility: The
Draughtsman's Contract." The picture was

program gave members an advance look at
a new technology that will have an enor¬

mous

impact

on

cinematography. Brad

products for Eastman Kodak Company,
discussed

electronic intermediate sys¬

being developed for motion picture film.
With this sophisticated imaging
system, film will be scanned into digital
format for image manipulation applications,
making it possible to make realistic com¬
posites in days instead of weeks. It also will
make it easy to eliminate scratches and
tem

other undesirable artifacts and make pos¬
sible subtle adjustments in color and con¬
trast. A film recorder will be used to transfer

digital pictures onto a fine grain interme¬
diate stock. Image quality will be compa¬
rable to the dailies seen today.

Camarillo Springs Golf Course on Sunday,
June 23 at 9:37 a.m. This will mark the

beginning of the Eighth Annual Summer
Golf Classic. Active members, associate
members and guests are eligible to par¬

ticipate. The

Seventy-two golfers teed off in
last year's tournament. Richard Glouner,
ASC took top honors for Low Gross, Low Net
and the Governor's Perpetual Trophy. Pre¬
vious winner Gene Polito, ASC and Richard
L. Rawlings, ASC secretary, tied for second

place. The big surprise was the hole-in-one
scored by associate member Fred Scobey
on the par-3 18th hole. There were plenty
of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, trophies, prizes,
and a big buffet dinner at the wrap party
two weeks later.
The Callaway Handicap System
is used to determine net scores, so both low
handicappers and high scorers are in for the
fun. The course is cooled by sea breezes and
should anyone fail to heed a "fore!" -
is only a 20-minute drive from the Motion
Picture Country House and Hospital.
