Super Bowl Aerials
Earlier this year, the people who
bring you the Super Bowl made bold moves
to maintain the event's position as the
grandaddy of hype, including appearances
by Clint Black and Michael Jackson. The
tactics apparently paid off - Super Bowl
XXVII was reported to be the highest-rated
television program in history. More than
thirty-five television cameras were trained
on

the action. Several of the

Super Bowl, of course, but this year's half¬
time festivities involved scripted shots from
the blimp for the first time. As a result,
Schaafsma and the Bud One crew took part
in a day of rehearsal prior to game day. The
trick was to have the ship and camera timed
and positioned to get the proper pullback
zoom as Jackson's extravaganza unfolded.
On the big day, with millions of viewers

Henninger Editing Tools (T.H.E. Tools) to
provide random-access editing to the fea¬
ture film marketplace. Based at the Tribeca
Film Center in New York City, the center
offers random-access editing systems both
in-house in an editing suite and on location.
It offers rental equipment and a consulting
service for producers, directors, and editors
regarding which system is most appropri¬
ate to a project, how to implement the sys¬
tem, and answers to ongoing technical
questions and problems. T.H.E. Tools will
either train an existing editing team or pro¬
vide trained assistants who can work with
film editors on location.
