s IN thE NEws Black & Veatch, a global Paul Weida engineering, consulting
and construction company, announced two senior-level appointments: Paul
Weida was named vice president of government affairs. He previously served
as vice president of environmental, safety, health and security services.
Mark Prenni was named director and vice president of corporate safety
services. Prenni was previously safety and health manager for the
company’s energy division. In his new role, he is responsible for safety
and health services for Black & Veatch professionals and clients. Humberto
P. Alonso, Jr., has joined PBS&J as vice Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson
promoted Jon S. Conner to vice president. Jon S. Conner Conner, based in
the firm’s Sparks, Md., office, has more than 21 years of experience in
environmental planning and design for transportation and facility
improvement projects and urban planning. Thornton-Tomasetti Group promoted
Erleen Hatfield to vice president of the New York office. Hatfield is a
specialist in Building Information Modeling BIM , and currently heads up
the company-wide use of 3D BIM technology, which is rarely used uniformly
in structural engineering firms. Erleen Hatfield Mark Prenni Humberto P.
Alonso, Jr. president and South Florida district director, where he will
be responsible for leading the firm’s general business positioning and
community involvement activities in the area. Alonso has spent the past 19
years in leadership positions with the South Florida Water Management
District and the School Board of Broward County. The Benham Companies
hired Bradley Hornburg to Jean-Alix Peralte recently joined STV
Incorporated as a vice president in the firm’s national transportation
and infrastructure division. Peralte will manage the civil engineering
group in the firm’s Chicago office, including project financial and
technical performance, and STV’s Midwest transportation engineering
practice. Jean-Alix Peralte Bradley Hornburg lead the firm’s
Design-Build group in St. Louis. Hornburg will serve as managing director
and vice president of Benham Constructors. Previously, Hornburg served as
CEO of Landmark Contract Management in St. Louis, a firm he founded in
1987 and which manages more than $2 billion worth of new construction
