ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Carla Jackie Sampson, PhD, MBA, FACHE, is clinical associate professor
and director of the Health Policy and Management Program and online Master
of Health Administration Program at New York University's Robert F. Wagner
Graduate School of Public Service, where she teaches courses in strategy, executive
leadership, human resources management, and healthcare system organization.
Dr. Sampson's research interests include healthcare workforce policy, the impact of
structural racism on the social determinants of health, and anchor mission strategy
development.
Bruce J. Fried, PhD, is professor emeritus in the Department of Health Policy
and Management in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as director of master's degree
programs for more than 20 years. Dr. Fried has taught courses in human resources
management, international and comparative health systems, and globalization and
health. His research interests include the impact of improvement teams and culture
on quality in healthcare settings, the healthcare workforce, mental health services,
and global health.
