HAP's Digital Approach to Textbooks
The textbook publishing industry is experiencing significant changes driven by
various factors such as the emergence of digital content, changing educational
models, and evolving student preferences. These changes reflect the new
landscapes of education and the desire for more affordable, flexible, and effective
learning materials.
As announced in November 2023, to adapt to this changing landscape,
HAP transitioned its textbook offerings to a digital-only format effective,
January 1, 2024.
As part of HAP's new digital-only model:
* The AUPHA/HAP and Gateway textbook product lines are affected by
this change. Print inventory will no longer be distributed through Amazon
and other national retailers. HAP's Management Series/Executive Series
titles will still be available in both print at national retail accounts and in
digital formats.
* Although textbook print inventory may remain available at Amazon and
other campus retail locations in the short term, these sellers will no longer
be replenished with printed textbooks.
* Bulk digital purchases or Inclusive Access requests may be directed to
ebooks@ipgbook.com for fulfillment.
Digital Exam and Desk Copies
Similarly, instructor review copies will also be fulfilled with digital copies only.
To request an e-book exam copy or e-book desk copy, complete the request
form at ache.org, contact your sales representative, or contact HAP at
hapbooks@ache.org. Please note: course information is required for processing
your request. You will receive a VitalSource Bookshelf redemption code for
perpetual access.
If an instructor prefers a print edition, they may visit ache.org to purchase a copy
at a 50% discount using the code INSTRUCTOR at checkout.
Student Purchases
HAP e-books are sold on popular digital platforms, such as VitalSource
Bookshelf, RedShelf, Chegg, and Amazon for Kindle.
For students who prefer a print book, ACHE provides discounts for students who
buy nonreturnable print books (while supplies last) directly from ache.org. ACHE
Student Associates are also eligible to receive a 30% discount at ache.org-no
promo code is needed. Students who aren't members of ACHE can receive a
20% discount off the list price when purchasing textbooks from ache.org. The
promo code STUDENT24 can be applied at checkout. After January 1, 2025,
the promo code is STUDENT25. Please note that bulk purchases at ache.org for
department or bookstore fulfillment are not available
for fulfillment.
Adaptation of our publishing methods to digital will dramatically enhance
our ability to make learning cost effective, accessible, timely, sustainable, and
flexible at a time when our customers are increasingly demanding it of us. Our
commitment to our instructors is enduring. HAP is confident this new digital
approach will in fact add value to our relationship while driving a robust and
sustainable future.
