insights or revelations. In most cases where different researchers assigned differing categories to a presentation, we retained both sets of categories, as those differing viewpoints were acknowledged as valid, enriching the data and reflecting the experiences and insight of the various researchers. This stands in marked contrast to the typical practice dictated by other content analysis methodologies that views differing opinions and coding results as negative. This again illustrates the necessity for a methodology such as ECA for exploratory research of this nature. We did not know what larger categories and themes would emerge from this analysis, so we initially categorized presentations at a very granular and detailed level. Once all programs were coded at this level, we then grouped the 126 initial (“minor”) categories into 19 larger (“major”) categories. The major categories were constructed from those minor categories that logically fit together and were describing different aspects or examples of larger phenomena or topics. For example, several programs were initially given codes of “Computer requirement,” “Funding & billing,” “Leasing,” “Outsourcing,” or “Student computer purchasing.” These minor categories were grouped together into a “Funding, billing, and purchasing” major category.

RESULTS
As is common with qualitative analysis, both major and minor themes emerged during data analysis (Creswell, 2002). As described above, the initial categorization of the data resulted in 126 minor categories. These minor categories were then organized into 19 broader major categories (see Table 1).

Two primary results emerged from analysis of the identified categories. First, three broad time periods were identified. Though the boundaries between them were difficult to mark precisely, the data clearly indicate major changes in presentation content occurring
