The 18 items result from the application of correlational statistics, principle component analysis, and frequency of response option selection to several samples and a university archival sample (Ironson et al.). The JIG and JDI use the same response options and scoring procedure (Balzer et al., 1997). JIG items include worse than most and makes me content. Harwell (2003) notes high reliability estimates, with a Cronbach’s alpha of .91, and Ironson et al. (1989) estimate convergent and discriminant validity as high. These items permit comparisons by organization type, gender, age, manager status, and job level to the national norms for the JIG and the JDI (Harwell). Individual and institutional demographic items included respondent age; gender; ethnicity; job tenure; institutional tenure; student affairs tenure; educational attainment; and current institutional size, type, and control.

tions. Therefore, this study utilized the original non-transformed data. Results from a series of ANOVAs indicated relatively equal variances. No multivariate outliers were identified. A review of scatterplots suggested questionable multivariate normality and linearity. Results of a MANOVA indicated acceptable multivariate homogeneity of variance-covariance. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical procedures including t-tests, ANOVA, and multiple regression.

RESULTS
This inquiry examined the job satisfaction levels of entry-level residence life and housing professionals, created a descriptive profile, and compared average levels of satisfaction to national norms. The study also examined group differences and predictors of job satisfaction.

Respondents
Of the 118 respondents, the majority were female (n = 82, 69.5%), Caucasian (n = 102, 86.4%), and aged between 25 and 29 years (n = 86, 72.9%), and their highest degree earned was a Master’s degree (n = 99, 83.9%). (See Table 1.) Most participants worked 2-5 years in their current position (n = 75, 63.6%), for their current institution (n = 71, 60.2%), and within student affairs (n = 76, 64.4%). Of those indicating institution type, all reported their current employer as a four-year institution, with 50% working for public institutions (n = 59). Institutional size and scope varied, with the largest percentage of participants working for institutions with 2,000-9,999 students (n = 48, 40.7%) that award doctoral or professional degrees (n = 69, 58.5%).

Data Screening and Analysis
Values were calculated for all scales for all respondents; missing data were negligible. The levels within several independent variables were collapsed to increase power and effect size for the statistical analyses. No univariate outliers were identified. A visual examination and Kolmogorov-Smirnov testing of univariate normality revealed non-normal distributions. After square root and logarithm transformations, Kolmogorov-Smirnov results remained significant, indicating non-normal distribu-
