3), including higher levels of satisfaction with
their ability to live and study in this environment and their comfort with the overall environment. The t-test produced no signiﬁcant
differences between mean satisfaction scores
of participants in the previous learning community and those in the current one (Table 4)
on any of the items related to the residence hall
living experience.

Additionally, comparing these two groups
revealed an increased satisfaction on 10 of the
14 items (Table 7 and Table 8). It is evident
that the time that residence life and wellness
staffs invested in listening to what the previous
students had to say and in making program
changes to the community signiﬁcantly increased student satisfaction with the learning
experiences and staff interaction.

A comparison of the residence hall learning
experience and residence hall student staff constructs for the wellness learning community
and the control group showed that the satisfaction means for the learning community
were signiﬁcantly higher than were those of
the control group on all 14 items (Table 5 and
Table 6).

The residence life department had hired
and trained staff to be better equipped to
work with the students living in this community, and this concerted effort was effective in
helping students get to know one another and
have their questions answered. Students living
in the wellness learning community responded positively to the programs, activities, and
