themselves. The design of the CDTT allowed
for a detailed and complex tracking of learning in the halls. In so doing, it provided a way
to foreground residence life as a source of
learning and structurally included RAs in the
design, delivery, and assessment of residents'
educational experiences in the residence halls.
SHaRE launched the CDTT as a pilot at
the outset of the 2014-2015 academic year. The
CDTT made the data accessible and practical.
RDs downloaded, organized, and disseminated
the data with their student staff. Throughout
the academic year, they used the data in multiple ways. RAs met regularly with supervisors
to review data and improve campus housing
policies and practices. Further, the assessment
team and key RAs presented this data during
department-wide meetings and provided basis
for discussions among SHaRE administrators
and staff to consider practices and policies in
SHaRE.
Evaluating the CDTT
The tool itself addressed many of SHaRE's
needs as illuminated by previous assessment
efforts. Given that it was a newly-developed

tool, the assessment team once again used PAR
to assess the CDTT during spring 2015. The
meta-assessment included a multi-pronged
approach to triangulate and make meaning of
the findings emerging within the CDTT. First,
the assessment team hired RAs to analyze and
code CDTT entries from the fall semester.
They then presented the findings to other RAs
during spring training, outlining trends and
facilitating discussion around areas where improvement was needed in resident experiences. Second, the RDs and ARDs facilitated focus
group discussions with RAs to gather feedback
on the implementation of the CDTT, including
its effectiveness to measure resident learning
and RA experiences engaging the form and
using the data. In the last step of the metaassessment, the assessment team conducted
an outcomes-based assessment survey with
residents. Findings from this survey were compared to those gleaned from the CDTT data to
evaluate the CDTT's effectiveness in capturing
resident learning outcomes.
The findings from the meta-assessment
spoke to the strengths and challenges of the
