Joella Seay, associate director of
procurement at the University
of Florida in Gainesville, passed
away on May 20, 2014. She
graduated from the university
with a degree in communications
and had been employed with the
university for more than 30 years.
Donvontae Walton passed away
on July 7, 2014, due to natural
causes during his first week as a
residential learning coordinator
at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg,
a position he was very excited
to have as an important step in
his professional career. He was
the first in his family to graduate
from college, and his experiences
with university housing as an RA
at the University of WisconsinWhitewater led him to pursue a
career in student affairs. Walton
then attended graduate school
at the University of Kansas
where he served as an assistant
complex director. During his
two years in graduate school,
he was an ACUHO-I intern at
Clemson University and part of
the NASPA Graduate Associates
Program, writing for their blog.
He also published articles in
the SEAHO Report. Those who
had an opportunity to work
with Walton knew he had an
infectious smile, hard work ethic,
and a caring personality. He was
a rising star in the field, and his
spirit will continue on in the lives
he touched.
