AROUND STUDENT AFFAIRS ACUI Announces new CEO CAS Celebrates 35th Anniversary The Association of College Unions International (ACUI) announced in January that John Taylor will be the new CEO starting May 1. He replaces Marsha Herman-Betzen who will retire at the end of April. The year 2014 marked 35 years since 11 professional associations in various student affairs areas began working together in 1979 to develop standards and to assist with assessing needs within the higher education community. Now, the consortium has grown to 41 associations working together to improve the student experience. Furthermore, in 2015, the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) will publish the ninth edition of CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education.
