Networks Outline 2017 Goals
One of the ways in which ACUHO-I infuses diversity and
inclusion into aspects of the association is through the work
of volunteer networks. For 2017, the Professionals of Color
Network, the Women in Housing Network, and the LGBT
Issues Network will offer a number of opportunities for
association members to connect around issues of identity and
will provide resources and programs to enhance their ability to
succeed.

The new ACUHO-I Campus Housing Index is
a searchable benchmarking platform designed
to serve as a go-to resource for campus housing
professionals in need of information and metrics
to inform their operations and practice. Developed
with support from the ACUHO-I Foundation,
the index houses revamped versions of ACUHOI's operational and compensation surveys and
provides tools for individual institutions to input
their information, benchmark their operations
against other campuses, and extract reports to
capitalize on the data.
More than 300 institutions entered data during
the 2015-16 data collection period, with 83 percent
of participant institutions completing at least
50 percent of the questions in the platform. The
results from the first administration were recently
made available. In the coming months, executive
summaries will be released, and in late spring
the platform will be reopened for data entry and
validation. Those institutions that did not enter
data will have the opportunity to participate at that
time.

In 2017 the ACUHO-I Professionals of Color Network
will again collaborate with ACUHO-I Annual Conference
& Exposition leaders to present a Multicultural Institute to
enhance the understanding, experiences, and values around
diversity and inclusion. The Multicultural Institute will be
held in Providence, Rhode Island, as part of this year's annual
conference. More details are available on the ACUHO-I
website.
The three networks also have collaborated on a webinar series.
While the Professionals of Color Network presented in February,
the LGBT Issues Network will present their webinar on March 30.
Finally, all three networks will continue to work on outreach
and engagement through social media and the ACUHO-I
online community and at ACUHO-I and regional face-to-face
events. Watch for representatives at these events or connect

Sponsored Research
Last December, ACUHO-I announced its new Sponsored
Research Program, designed to address the critical need for a
holistic, multi-campus representative study of the impact of
living on campus on college students' experience and success.
This program stands to play an integral role in the association's
ability to tell the story of the profession and advocate for the
value of the on-campus living experience. The association
received eight proposals, which are currently under review. An
award will be announced at the end of March.

Just in Time

JUST
in
TIME

ACUHO-I recently hosted the third event in its new Just in Time series. The
two-day symposium, A Home for Everyone: LGBTQ Students and Residential
Communities, was hosted in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)
in Washington, D.C., and was sponsored by Adirondack Solutions. The event
focused on emerging research, trends, and developments that affect these students'
inclusion in campus residential communities and featured a panel of expert
presenters, including two researchers from ACUHO-I's funded research grant
program, Z Nicolazzo and Susan Marine.
