Top Technologies Capsule filling and sealing machine The automated CFS 1500 C capsule filling and sealing system, available from Capsugel, provides safe filling and sealing for capsules containing lipid-based formulations or potent compounds. The system is capable of a throughput of 1500 capsules/ h and scale up to commercial manufacturing can be achieved using the company’s LEMS 70 liquid encapsulation micro-spray sealing system, which can seal up to 70000 capsules/h. According to the company, the technology is particularly useful for effervescent and orally disintegrating dosage forms that need to dissolve rapidly in water without forming any residue. The system can provide a processing time up to 35% shorter compared with conventional coating systems and also reduces the likelihood of spray drying via the company’s patented air flow design within the coating pan. Text, logos, authentication labels or a combination of these can be printed with a resolution up to 0.1 mm. Further advantages include continuous stability of the print process via a constant ink viscosity level and a print capacity of up to 250000/400000 pieces/h.
