Laclede helped establish a groundbreaking residential green-building verification program to encourage home builders to implement energy efficient, environmentally friendly building practices in new home construction. Laclede’s verification program was initially adopted by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri in launching and maintaining its Green Building Initiative (GBI). Laclede now provides the engineering evaluation and survey verification for all residential projects submitted to the HBA for rating under the GBI. To date, Laclede has completed verifications on more than 100 homes, with an additional 50 planned for 2010. Laclede also assisted the National Home Builders Association Research Center in developing a protocol for a national inspection/verification program. Kevin C. Garrity, PE, VP of integrity services for Mears Anthony V. Cugini has been named director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory. He succeeds Carl O.
