Beyond the Boomers
What will the workers, technical skills and utility structures of 2020 look like? some experts share their predictions.
Work force 2020
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: The baby boom segment of the natural gas utility workforce is headed for retirement in unprecedented numbers, taking with it decades of knowledge and experience that companies will be hard-pressed to replace. it’s no joke, of course, even if the boomers’ race to the exits has been slowed somewhat by the recession and its aftereffects. But the more important story for the industry may be what comes after the baby boomers, and how companies can prepare for the challenges of what has come to be known in human resources circles as Workforce 2020.
