As many of you are aware, the 2016 Journal Impact Factors were
released in mid-June 2017. I'm thrilled to report that the American
Diabetes Association's peer-reviewed research journals, Diabetes
Care and Diabetes, remain the highest-ranked journals devoted
exclusively to diabetes research and treatment.
The Impact Factor for Diabetes Care jumped from 8.934 in 2015
to 11.857 in 2016-the highest Impact Factor ever achieved by an
American Diabetes Association journal-and the Impact Factor
for Diabetes remained well above the 8.0 mark-at 8.684-for the
fourth consecutive year. Combined, Diabetes Care and Diabetes
were cited more than 120,000 times in 2016.* The incredible
number of citations underscores the Association's role as the
authoritative source for the most relevant, timely, and important
diabetes research and treatment advances.
Diabetes Care and Diabetes have achieved remarkable success
thanks to your support. These accomplishments are true
testaments to the high quality of research and manuscripts
submitted to and published in each journal; the dedication and
voluntary contributions of the reviewers of our journals; and the
spirited commitment of the editorial teams of Diabetes Care and
Diabetes-now led by Matthew C. Riddle, MD, and Martin G. Myers
Jr., MD, PhD-to solidify the status of these publications as leaders
in clinical and basic diabetes research.
On behalf of the American Diabetes Association, thank you for
