Nomination Deadline Approaching for
2019 Pathway to Stop Diabetes® Grant
Opportunity

Nominations:
Nominations are invited from U.S. accredited academic and
nonprofit research institutions.
* Each institution is allowed a single nomination on any of the
three award mechanisms offered.

Pathway to Stop Diabetes® focuses on brilliant minds at the peak
of their creativity, providing 5- to 7-year grants of up to $1.625
million and the freedom, autonomy, and professional mentoring
to drive new breakthroughs in the fight to Stop Diabetes.
Now in its sixth year of accelerating science and empowering
talent, Pathway is bringing new perspectives to diabetes research
by supporting innovative basic, clinical, translational, epidemiological, and health services research that is relevant to any type
of diabetes, diabetes-related disease state, or complication.
The American Diabetes Association is currently accepting
nominations for 2019 Pathway awards.

Effective January 1, 2018, institutions are limited to only
one repeat nomination of the same individual.

* Individual components of multi-component organizations*
with unique DUNS/IPF identifiers are considered
independent institutions.
* Nomination of individuals from diverse backgrounds,
including minority groups that are underrepresented in
biomedical research,† is strongly encouraged.
* e.g. individual campuses within the University of California system,
affiliated institutions within the Harvard system
†Underrepresented minorities are defined as African American or Black,
Hispanic/Spanish/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native or Native
Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.

Deadline: July 2, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. ET for January 1, 2019,

Lora K. Heisler, PhD,, will deliver the Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award Lecture, "Harnessing Brain Circuits to
Improve Type 2 Diabetes" on Monday, June 25.
Jackie Boucher, MS, RDN, will give the Outstanding Educator in Diabetes Award Lecture, "Connectedness -
How Technology and Social Networks are Advancing Diabetes Nutrition Care" on Saturday, June 23.
Catherine C. Cowie, PhD, MPH, will present the Kelly West Award Lecture, "Diabetes Diagnosis and Control -
Missed Opportunities to Improve Health" on Sunday, June 24.
