On February 22, Fran Cogen, MD, of Children's National
Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and Crystal Woodward,
Director of the American Diabetes Association's (ADA's) Safe
at School campaign, co-presented "Advocating on Behalf of
the Student with Diabetes," a pre-conference workshop at
ADA's 66th Advanced Postgraduate Course in New York, N.Y.
The workshop focused on legal protections for students
with diabetes, strategies for overcoming school diabetes
management challenges, training and resources, and
information on how to advocate on behalf of pediatric
patients. Attendees were awarded 1.5 hours of continuing
