Call for Nominations: 2020 Interest Group and WIN ADA Awards
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking nominations for its 2020 national Interest Group Awards, as well as the Lois
Jovanovic Transformative Woman in Diabetes Award, presented by the Women's Interprofessional Network of the ADA (WIN ADA).
These prestigious awards recognize and honor individuals in the diabetes scientific and medical community who have demonstrated
exceptional leadership and who have made significant research contributions and earned impressive career achievements. They will be
presented at ADA's 80th Scientific Sessions (#ADA2020), June 12-16, 2020, in San Francisco, CA.

Norbert Freinkel Award
Presented by the Pregnancy & Reproductive Health
Interest Group
Honoring outstanding scientific achievement in the understanding and treatment of diabetes and pregnancy

Richard R. Rubin Award
Presented by the Behavioral Medicine & Psychology
Interest Group
Honoring outstanding scientific achievement in the understanding of the behavioral aspects of diabetes

Roger Pecoraro Award
Peter Rossing, MD, DMSc, 2019 Edwin Bierman Award recipient,
with Rodica Pop-Busui, MD, PhD, chair of the Diabetes &

activities

Honoring a woman who has made outstanding contributions to
diabetes research, care, and education and to the career development of women in the diabetes field

Know Diabetes by Heart Webinar Available Online
Last month, the American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association held a live professional webinar titled, "Managing
Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: Approaches for Screening, Complication Management, and Treatment," as part of their Know Diabetes
by Heart joint initiative.
The discussion was led by expert panelists Neha J. Pagidipati, MD,
MPH, an assistant professor of medicine in cardiology at Duke
Clinical Research Institute, and Julienne K. Kirk, PharmD, CDE,
BCPS, a professor in the Department of Family and Community
Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine. During the webinar, the
panelists reviewed standard and novel approaches to assess for and
reduce complications in patients with type 2 diabetes.
