Care increased from 16.019 in 2019 to 19.112
in 2020-the highest ever achieved by an ADA
journal. Diabetes, ADA's flagship research
publication, achieved an impressive 2020
Impact Factor of 9.461, up from 7.72 in 2019.
Impact Factor is a measure of how often work
published in a peer-reviewed journal is cited in
other publications in a given year. The statistic
is considered to be a measure of a journal's
prestige and influence.
Diabetes Care and Diabetes also performed
impressively based on their Article Influence
Score, a measure of a journal's prominence
based on per-article citations; Immediacy Index,
a measure of how quickly articles are cited; and
Cited Half-Life, the average age of cited articles.
Diabetes Care and Diabetes are two of the
most highly cited publications in the field of
" endocrinology and metabolism. " Combined,
the journals were cited more than 145,000
times in 2020.

Request for Applications: Editor-in-Chief, Diabetes Care
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is now
seeking applications for the Editor-in-Chief position of
Diabetes Care, its journal for original diabetes-related
clinical research.
The appointment is for 3 years, with a possible 2-year
extension. Applicants are asked to nominate a slate of
12-15 Associate Editors to assist with the development
and review of content published in the journal. The new
editorial team will convene in summer 2022 to begin
inviting articles and reviewing new submissions for the
January 2023 issue and beyond.
Diabetes Care is a journal for health care practitioners
that aims to increase its audience's diabetes-related
knowledge, stimulate research, and promote better
management of people with diabetes. To achieve these
goals, the journal publishes original research on human
studies in the following categories:
* Clinical Care/Education/Nutrition/Psychosocial Research
* Epidemiology/Health Services Research
* Emerging Treatments and Technologies
* Pathophysiology/Complications
* Cardiovascular and Metabolic Risk
The journal also publishes official ADA statements,
consensus reports, clinically relevant review articles,
letters to the editor, and health/medical news or points
of view. Topics covered are of interest to clinically
oriented physicians, researchers, epidemiologists,
psychologists, diabetes educators, and other diabetes
health care professionals. More information about the

The ADA provides administrative and salary support
to the Editor-in-Chief's institution, as well as honoraria
to the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors. The
Association maintains its own editorial office and staff
to manage the manuscript submission system and
peer-review process.

which must be completed and returned by February 1,
