2022 Pathway to Stop Diabetes
Is Now Soliciting Nominations
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is paving the way
for the next generation of trailblazers in diabetes research.
We are building a human pathway to tackle the toughest
questions in diabetes by driving research innovations through
1:1 mentorship and the creation of a brain trust in diabetes.
Talent Unleashed
Pathway to Stop Diabetes has a simple, yet revolutionary
goal: to find scientists at the peak of their creativity and
provide them with the autonomy, flexibility, and resources
they need on the road to breakthrough discoveries.
We attract and retain brilliant scientists in diabetes. Our three
areas of focus-awarding research grants, providing access
to scientific and career mentoring from leading diabetes
researchers, and creating a diabetes think tank-are each
key components of a unique formula to cultivate the next
generation of leaders, whose discoveries will stop diabetes
and all of its burdens once and for all.
Find out more by visiting the
Current Funding Opportunities page
on the ADA's DiabetesPro website.
Applications are accepted by
institutional nomination only.
Deadline: August 1, 2022
Pathway to Stop Diabetes
Symposium Planned for the
82nd Scientific Sessions
The American Diabetes Association's Pathway to Stop
Diabetes program invites you to join us at a symposium
to learn about the innovative and transformational
work being done by some of our brilliant awardees.
These dynamic researchers are delving deeply into the
mechanisms involved in the development of diabetes
and seeking new ways to transform diabetes care,
improve outcomes for people living with diabetes and
its complications, and, ultimately, identify cures.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has selected five Postdoctoral Fellowship Award recipients in response to its two most
recent targeted requests for applications (RFAs): Leveraging Nutrition and Lifestyle for Diabetes Prevention Across the Life Span
and Leveraging Precision Medicine to Improve the Lives of People with Diabetes. These awards provide support for high-quality
training in disciplines and topics relevant to the specific RFAs, in an environment conducive to beginning a career in diabetes
research. These Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards began on April 1, 2022, and provide up to $75,292 per year for up to 3 years.
The recipient of the ADA Nutrition and
Lifestyle Postdoctoral Fellowship is:
Frank Materia, PhD
The Children's Mercy
Hospital
