Professional Interest Group Networking Events Held at the 80th
Scientific Sessions
The American Diabetes Association's (ADA's) Interest Groups
aim to provide forums for the exchange of information and to
facilitate collaborations in specialized areas of diabetes research
and care. To achieve this objective, eight of the ADA's Interest
Groups hosted virtual networking meetings during the 80th
Scientific Sessions, enabling members to connect face to face
and discuss new research in their respective fields. The following
Interest Group networking events took place.

Behavioral Medicine and Psychology: During this event, experts
in behavioral research discussed current topics such as health
care professional burnout and transitions in mental health care
during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clinical Centers and Programs: Members of this Interest Group
discussed the latest developments in research related to inpatient
and outpatient care for people with diabetes, with an emphasis
on inpatient usage of diabetes technology during the COVID-19
pandemic.
Diabetes In Youth: This event brought together experts in
pediatric endocrinology and public health to continue the
conversation from this Interest Group's earlier online Discussion
session on the usage of closed-loop systems in youth. Participants
also brainstormed future group activities.
Diabetes Technology: Members of this Interest Group shared
personal perspectives on the remote management of continuous
glucose monitors and insulin pumps in the post-COVID-19
environment.

Exercise Physiology: At this event, members discussed the
latest research related to diabetes and exercise, continued the
conversation from their earlier online Discussion session on
MoTrPAC (Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity in
Humans), and brainstormed potential group activities.

Nutritional Science and Metabolism: This Interest Group
hosted small-group face-to-face meetings that expanded on their
earlier online Discussion session about emerging methodologies
for personalized nutrition.
Pregnancy and Reproductive Health: Members of this
Interest Group came together in small-group meetings focused
on current topics in diabetes and pregnancy research such
as obstetric, gynecologic, and postpartum care during the
COVID-19 pandemic.

Public Health and Epidemiology: This Interest Group's virtual
meeting provided opportunities for public health experts to share
research and ideas related to COVID-19 and social determinants
of health and to brainstorm future group activities.

15 of ADA's Interest Groups also held online Discussion sessions
at the Scientific Sessions. Webcasts of these sessions are available
