GEODynamics Recognized As Fast-Growing Company

COLLEGE STATION, TX.-GEODynamics Inc. has made the 2015 Aggie 100,
an annual list of the fastest-growing businesses owned or led by former students at
Texas A&M University. The company's
founder and chief executive, David S. Wesson, graduated from the university in 1982.
GEODynamics notes it placed 55th
on the 2015 list and is one of three companies that have been honored with this
award five years or more. The company
ranked number one in 2006 and placed

in 2007, 2009 and 2014.

manufactures perforating solutions that

each reservoir's unique characteristics,
an approach it says has attracted the

Partnership To Acquire All Encana D-J Assets
DENVER-The Broe Group and the
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board
say a new affiliate owned by the two
companies has signed an agreement with
Encana Corp. to buy all of Encana Oil &
Gas (USA) Inc.'s oil and gas assets in the
Denver-Julesburg Basin in northern Colorado. The companies report the $900
million transaction, which is subject to
regulatory approvals and closing conditions, is expected to close in the fourth
quarter.
"At nearly $1 billion in total value,
this is a milestone transaction for The
Broe Group, and represents the kind of
investment we are actively seeking," says
Claude Pumilia, chief operating officer
and chief financial officer of The Broe
Group. "We are pleased to acquire an
asset with significant proved reserves,
strong production, and attractive well
performance and returns."
Encana's D-J assets include more than
1,600 wells and 51,000 net acres. During
the first half of 2015, The Broe Group

says the assets produced an average of
52 million cubic feet a day of natural gas
and 14,800 barrels a day of crude oil and
natural gas liquids.
On closing, the new enterprise will
operate as a stand-alone, independent
business governed by its own board of
directors, the companies say.

API Recognizes Leadership
Of Devon's J. Larry Nichols

WASHINGTON-The American Petroleum Institute awarded its highest honor-the Gold Medal for Distinguished
Achievement-to J. Larry Nichols of Devon Energy Corp., to recognize his leadership and service to the oil and gas industry, the community, and the nation.
"Larry Nichols has been a pioneer of
the U.S. oil and natural gas industry,"
praises API President and Chief Executive
Officer Jack Gerard. "His entrepreneurial
spirit and vision helped to create and
guide one of America's leading independent energy companies."
Nichols led Devon Energy for four
decades, helping the company grow from
five employees in 1971 to more than
5,000 today, Gerard notes. Nichols has
served as Devon's executive chairman
since June 2010 after serving as chief
executive for three decades.

Halliburton Unit Launches Xaminer Sonic Service
HOUSTON-Halliburton Wireline and
Perforating has introduced the Xaminer
Sonic Service, which the company describes as an evolution in acoustic formation evaluation that provides operators
with high-fidelity data and advanced processing capabilities to more accurately
characterize a wide range of reservoirs,
including those in deep water, and mature
and unconventional fields.
According to Halliburton, the technology works by recording acoustic waveforms that travel from a transmitter through
the formation to a receiver. Operators

analyze reservoir characteristics and geomechanical properties. These acoustic
applications provide information to help
users optimize completion and stimulation
design, and reduce drilling and completion
costs, the company says.
The Xaminer Sonic tool includes 104
receivers on a six-foot array. Halliburton
says this provides the longest transmitter-to-receiver spacing in the industry
and the purest acoustic signal to evaluate
near and far fields in real-time. It also
functions in high-pressure, high-temperature environments.
The company adds the tool features a
unique design that eliminates couplings
between transmitters and receivers while
maintaining strength to carry other tools
below it.
"The Xaminer Sonic tool is the culmination of four years of engineering,
modeling and testing to provide our customers with innovative logging technologies," says David Topping, vice president
of wireline and perforating. "Halliburton
is in a strong position to work with operators to generate high-fidelity acoustic
data through a single trip in the hole to
