Board of Minerals and Environment, and the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources, headed by Secretary
Steven M. Pirner in Pierre, phone 605-773-5559. Oil and gas
regulation is a function of the Minerals and Mining Program,
directed by Program Administrator Bob Townsend. South
Dakota is treated as a single geographic region for administering
oil and gas regulations.

The Oil & Gas Division is one of four regulatory divisions
within the Texas Railroad Commission. Headed by Director
Lori Wrotenbery, the division regulates all oil and gas activities
in the state with the exceptions of oil and gas leasing, royalty
payments, surface damage resulting from oil and gas operations,
and contractual matters between operators and landowners.
The Office of General Counsel handles legal affairs for all
divisions of the Railroad Commission.
The Oil & Gas Division administers Texas' oil and gas regulations through nine district offices, each manned by a district
director and support personnel. Business may be conducted
and information about state oil and gas activities may be
obtained at each of the nine district offices.
