Forum Aims To Connect
U.S. Investors With Africa

HOUSTON-Africa Oil & Power announces it is partnering with African Energy Chamber's U.S.-Africa Committee
to host the inaugural U.S. Africa Energy
Forum, which will involve two events.
The first, an online seminar and in-person
networking event in Washington on July
12, will be followed by a summit and
gala dinner in Houston on Oct. 4-5.
These events aim to deepen cooperation between the United States and Africa
on energy policy, promote alignment on
long-term sustainability goals, stimulate
greater American investment in the African
oil, gas and power sectors, and engage
and reposition the United States as the
primary partner of choice for African
energy developments, the organizers say.
The topics they will cover include opportunities across the continent related
to natural gas, energy storage and battery
minerals; the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area; and on- and
off-grid power developments.
" The rise in support from the United
States to the continent is a credit to Africa
itself, which is increasingly viewed as a
favored destination for global investors,
multilaterals and export credit agencies, "
assesses Jude Kearney, president of Kearney
Africa and former deputy assistant secretary
for service industries and finance at the
U.S. Department of Commerce during the
Clinton administration. " Africa continues
to command a healthy share of global foreign direct investment in oil and gas industries. It has for decades shown that investment in those sectors is favorable compared with other jurisdictions and can be
successful by many measures. "
Both African governments and private
sector sponsors of African energy projects
value highly the combination of investment

MULTIPLE STAGE
CEMENTING COLLAR
This tool is used to effectively cement upper
sections of the casing string after displacing
cement around the lower section. The tool provides a means of opening and closing port
holes for cement displacement and positive
containment of the cement after displacement.
All internal parts are easily drilled, and are
firmly held from rotating during drilling. The
port closing sleeve is positively locked in
position after cementing.
When running the collar, it is advisable to place
a casing centralizer above and below and to
run a cementing basket below the cementing
ports. After running the collar to setting depth,
the lower section is cemented in the conventional
manner except the cement is displaced with
the flexible cementing plug furnished with the
collar. This is bumped against the shut-off
baffle which is also furnished. A slight pressure
build-up of 300-400 psi will assure plug is
seated in baffle. The port holes in the multiple
stage cementing collar are opened for doing
the second stage by dropping the trip bomb
and applying approximately 800-1000 psi pressure. The second stage is displaced with the
closing plug which is also furnished with the
tool. When the closing plug bumps approximately
800-1000 psi pressure will close the port holes.
