Tenaris Reopening Plants
To Meet Growing Demand
HOUSTON-Tenaris indicates it is
pushing ahead with plans to increase its
operations across the United States, including bringing its facilities in the Northeast back on line and increasing its national
employee base by 1,000.
" There are encouraging trends in the
market from increases in production and
oil prices to total demand, " observes
Tenaris U.S. President Luca Zanotti.
" While taking a cautious approach, this
presents an opportunity for us to power
up our footprint to supply customers
through a reliable, domestic value chain. "
Tenaris says its melt shop in Koppel,
Pa., is finalizing an investment announced
in 2020 to upgrade its steel bar size capabilities, while also incorporating additional improvements in safety and automation. This investment has been expanded to include additional cranes, revamps of existing cranes used to feed the
furnace with scrap metal, and a new production management system to improve
process control, Tenaris relates. The company projects these investments will be
complete in May 2021, with production
starting in June.
Tenaris also has shared plans to bring
its seamless mill in Ambridge, Pa., back
on line late summer. The company adds
that it is expanding its teams at its Texas
facilities-Bay City, Houston and Conroe-and its plant in Hickman, Ar.

Chesapeake Pilots Method For Certifying Sustainability
DENVER-Project Canary and Chesapeake Energy Corp. report they have
launched a pilot partnership to produce
certified responsibly sourced natural gas
(RSG) at select well pads in the Marcellus
and Haynesville shales.
Chesapeake will produce RSG using
Project Canary's continuous on-site emissions monitoring technology and TrustWell™ certification process, which the
partners say offers third-party verification

Shotwell Boosts Efficiency Of Standard H2S Scavenger

MIDLAND-Shotwell Hydrogenics
has launched a patent-pending hydrogen
sulfide scavenger it says improves MEA
triazine's ability to remediate hydrogen
sulfide while minimizing the chance it
will leave behind problematic solids.
Standard 40% MEA triazine can treat
H2S, but breakthrough occurs when only
70%-75% of the treatment chemical is
spent, meaning 25%-30% is never fully
utilized before it becomes ineffective,
Shotwell says. To address this, the company applied NRGMax®, its proprietary
technology for improving active chemical
ingredients' performance. In field trials,
Shotwell says the NRGMax formulation
increased the breakthrough point to 95%100%, allowing each gallon to treat more
pounds of H2S.
