VooDoo Energy Services Recapitalized By Voyager
SHREVEPORT, LA.-VooDoo Energy
Services reports it has been recapitalized
by an affiliate of Voyager Interests, a Houston
private equity firm focused on the
energy services and equipment sector.
Headquartered in Shreveport, VooDoo
introduces itself as the largest specialty
pumping service provider in the Haynesville
Shale. The company adds that it
provides services throughout Texas, New
Mexico and Oklahoma
VooDoo says it has 23 pumping units
capable of performing frac hit protection
treatments, pump-downs, toe preparations

According to the company, the release
expands the artificial-intelligence-driven
autonomous control capabilities introduced
in the previous version, while adding features
around uplift and economic opportunities
for both rod- and gas-lifted wells.
The release debuts plunger lift analytics
that enable quick identification and trending
for common plunger lift problems,
ChampionX outlines.
Building on the rod lift setpoint optimization
introduced in the 3.1 release,
XSPOC now offers rod lift variable
speed drive setpoint optimization.
ChampionX says this capability reduces
excessive cycling and increases run
time. The company adds that XSPOC
can tell when the VSD is running at
constant maximum frequency, and automatically
increase the max speed
setpoint to enable incremental production
gains.
Similarly, ChampionX says that in
gas lift wells, XSPOC can optimize and
control setpoints, automatically adjusting
the injection rate to maximize bottomhole
pressure and avoid over- and underinjection.
As the well stabilizes and matures,
the company continues, XSPOC
can help determine the ideal operating
environment based on compression and
injection costs, as well as the optimal injection
rate (the one before the point of
diminishing returns).

Drilling Riser Enhances Speed, Safety
HOUSTON-Oil States Industries
Inc. says its new managed pressure
drilling and riser gas handling system
integrates managed pressure drilling
and riser gas handling into a deepwater
drilling riser to unlock greater speed,
economy, performance and safety.
With conventional designs, OSI says
performing maintenance requires disconnecting
the lower marine riser package
and pulling the joint to the surface.
The MPD and RGH system features
retrievable annular packers that substantially
reduce maintenance and nonproductive
time by allowing replacement
and servicing in minutes without
disconnecting the LMRP, OSI says.
The company adds that the MPD and
RGH system is the only riser system
that is completely serviceable over the
well center.
OSI says. According to the
company, the MPD and RGH
system also reduces trapped
gas volumes from 47 barrels
for a conventional riser system
to a mere 1.8 barrels.
The MPD and RGH system
shrinks the rig footprint 40%,
OSI calculates. The company
explains that the lightweight
and compact design incorporates
integral riser connections,
removing the need for
crossovers that add length,
weight and labor costs.
