says the deal continues its efforts to
expand its footprint underlying the
Haynesville and Mid-Bossier zones in
North Louisiana and East Texas. The
company adds that it has funded the
acquisition utilizing equity
commitments from funds managed by
NGP Energy Capital Management LLC.
Mesa President and Chief Executive
Officer Darin Zanovich says Mesa is
" excited for our team to source and
close on this off-market opportunity in a
basin we have been actively working
since 2018.
" We have ample capital available
with our recent commitment upsize
from NGP and are poised to continue
acquiring in both the Haynesville
Shale play as well as in the Permian
Basin, where our current buying
efforts are focused, " he adds. " Proforma
following this acquisition Mesa
will now own over 11,000 net royalty
acres in the Haynesville Shale play
and plan to continue to aggregate to
scale the position. " ❒
Mountain V Expands
With AXP Acquisition
BUCKHANNON, W.V.-Mountain
V Oil and Gas has acquired AXP
Energy, an Australian oil and gas
company with assets in Tennessee,
Kentucky and Virginia, for $4 million.
As a longstanding natural gas
producer, Mountain V says it set out in
late 2023 to branch out into oil through
the AXP acquisition. The company
indicates the outright purchase of AXP's
holdings in the Midwest and Appalachia
fit seamlessly into Mountain V's
mission and vision for growth.
" We are excited to enter our 30th
year as a proud family business with
this acquisition, which will allow for
geographical and commodity
diversification, growth in reserves and
development of more locations, " relates
Mountain V President and Chief
Executive Officer Mike Shaver. " The
acquisition of AXP Energy positions
Mountain V for sizable growth, and
continued leadership in reliable and
sustainable oil and gas extraction in the
Appalachian Basin. "
The company says its vision
includes leveraging a vast acreage
position and improving reserves in
mostly untapped but proven resources
in the Marcellus and Upper Devonian
Shales in West Virginia and
Pennsylvania, as well as in various
sandstone formations in Kentucky. The
company relates it began drilling
unconventional horizontal wells in
2022 to discover new reserves that it
could extract efficiently. ❒
