New Blackline Safety Client Quickly Broadens Contract
CALGARY-Only a few months into
a $2.7 million contract with Blackline
Safety Corp., a Houston-based upstream
company upgraded by adding $1.7 million
in additional services, Blackline Safety
reports.
As part of the initial contract, which
was announced in February, the customer
purchased more than 800 G7c cloudconnected
wearable safety devices, 40
EXO cloud-connected area monitors and
75 G7 docks. During implementation,
the customer requested a demo of Blackline's
real-time alert response. When the

SOS latch and a live agent answered in

seconds, the client realized the service
would keep their workers safer than ever
before, Blackline recounts.

available will accelerate energy companies'

Axis Successfully Deploys Fully-Electric Service Rig
DALLAS-Axis Energy Services reports
it has deployed the industry's first
fully electric well service rig on wells
operated by Occidental. The first EPIC
RIG™ is reworking producing wells for
Oxy under a long-term contract in the
Permian Basin, Axis details.
As the first service rig engineered
around electric-powered drawworks, the
rig has several advantages over traditional
rigs, Axis says. For example, its electric
motor not only delivers instant torque
and smooth, consistent performance,
but also offers greater durability and
requires less maintenance. Axis adds
that a dynamic braking system replaces
the traditional mechanical brake, the
most common area for equipment-related
nonproductive time on a service rig.
Meanwhile, the company continues, the
built-in PLC works with the Axis CORE®
data acquisition and analysis platform
to give the rig operator precise control
and enable automated safeguards that
reduce manual actions and the potential
for human error.

to Oxy's strategy because it contributes
to emissions reductions, improves efficiency,
creates cost-savings and leverages
technology to accelerate our net
zero goals, " says Bob Barnes, Oxy's
senior vice president of operations. " Of
all the advantages of the EPIC RIG,

decarbonization goals. "
By connecting the electric rig's variable
frequency drive house to the public power
grid through a transformer, operators can
leverage renewable energy sources, reduce
emissions and save on fuel costs, Axis
reports. The company says the rig has the
flexibility to use field gas and natural gas,
making it adaptable to remote locations
and various field conditions.
