ASI'S NEW eFIRC (CONTINUED)
Also, unlike other FIRC providers, ASI does not charge extra for
processing CFI revalidation. Allowing ASI to handle this detail
will save you much hassle. If you decide to take your renewal
program paperwork to the local flight standards district office
(FSDO), be aware that you can no longer just walk into the FSDO.
You must make an appointment in advance and be prepared to go
through identification procedures.
BITS AND PIECES
Create a free account-To take the ASI eFIRC just log in to a
free AOPA web account. You don't need to be an AOPA member,
but if you are you can log in to your AOPA member account.
Otherwise just create a free account, which you can also use for
other ASI courses and quizzes.
Course completion-If you complete the eFIRC within your
four-month renewal window (your expiration month and the
three months prior to the expiration month) you will have access
to the course until your original expiration date to explore
other electives or access course resources. By the way, the ASI
eFIRC automatically provides WINGs credit upon successful
completion. Just make sure your AOPA account email matches the
one on record with the FAA.
Remediation-New to the eFIRC is quiz remediation. In short,
when you answer a quiz question incorrectly, you'll be able to
review the topic-a great way to reinforce understanding of the
material. You can then return to any remaining questions and
review content as needed.
Maintain current expiration date-Do not sign your electronic
8710 in IACRA until you're within your four month renewal window
(your expiration month and the three months prior to the expiration
month). Otherwise you'll be assigned an earlier expiration date.
Remember that you can fill out the renewal information in IACRA
anytime without having to do the final signing.
